Music is an amazing experience. It’s sad that we so often limit our experience of it to being a background track to our life. Focused listening to an entire album or carefully curated playlist is an amazing experience. You can really get lost in the music.
Here are my top three ways to enjoy listening to music.
There’s something about listening to vinyl records that just feels more special than any other format. Maybe it’s the ritual of putting the record on and flipping it over halfway through. Vinyl subscriptions are becoming more and more popular, as people discover the joys of listening to music in this format.
There are a few vinyl subscription services out there, but my favorite is Magnolia Record Club. For $27/month, you get a surprise vinyl record in the mail every month. The records are always from different artists and genres, so you’re always getting introduced to new music.
I love that Magnolia Record Club helps keep vinyl alive. It’s also a great way to discover new music and share it with friends.
Streaming services are a great way to enjoy music when you’re on the go. Services like Spotify and Apple Music allow you to create custom playlists, or listen to curated ones based on your mood or activity.
Apple’s Apple Music streaming service is probably the most popular one out there, but I just can’t get behind it as a vinyl lover. Still, lots of people swear by it and it seems to do the job just fine if a digital experience is up your alley. The recent addition of lossless audio certainly sweetens the pot.
Spotify is my streaming service of choice when I have to resort to digital. I love that it’s so easy to find new music and add it to my playlists. I also like the fact that I can listen to albums in their entirety, as well as create collaborative playlists with friends.
When I want to really focus on the music, I’ll put on my headphones. This is a great way to get lost in the music and forget about the world around you. I like to use headphones when I’m working out, or when I’m trying to get to sleep.
I have a pair of Beats headphones that I love, but if you’re looking for something less expensive there are plenty to choose from. Be careful when you shop, though—a lot of the lower-priced ones aren’t very good quality and will ruin your listening experience (trust me).
When choosing a pair of headphones, make sure to get a good seal around your ear so the sound is isolated. This will help you avoid outside noise and really focus on the music.
There you have it! My top three ways to enjoy music. I hope you’ll give them a try and let me know what you think. What’s your favorite way to listen to music? Let me know in the comments!
